Verbatim’s MR16 GU5.3 lamps were used in this project undertaken by Intrinsik Electronic Solutions and Borutta 3D Services. Intrinsik Electronic Solutions and Borutta 3D Services were responsible for the external lighting for the Melbourne Aquarium’s new shipwreck cove exhibit that emerges from the Yarra River at Southbank. The illuminated signage designed to advertise the new Shipwreck attraction created a wonderful nighttime atmosphere on the river for this entertainment precinct. Signage was illuminated using a combination of Warm and Cold GU5.3 LED lighting between 9pm and midnight during the months of December 2011 and January 2012. With no access to mains power, the LEDs were powered by a stand alone 12V/24V battery/solar system. Verbatim LEDs were chosen for this application for their low power consumption which in turn was helpful in keeping the solar system to a minimal size.
